The 1951 XK120 C, or C-type, was Jaguar Cars first factory-sponsored attempt at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It competed with wire wheels. The 1954-1956 D-type was modernized with a functional, new, lightweight wheel.
Dunlop, the famous English tire company, provided Jaguar with ultra-modern, lightweight, aluminum alloy wheels. These solid wheels were not only stronger than wires, but were lighter and virtually maintenance-free.
The D-type wasnt the only car to sport Dunlops new alloy wheels. Donald Healey ran his streamlined, 100-based Bonneville, and endurance record cars on them. The 1957 Lister-Jaguar used them. They were the wheels of choice for the 16 XKSS that Jaguar built in 1957. Jaguar also tapped Dunlop for their factory lightweight E-types; a similar wheel but with 10 squared ventilation holes.
All this to say, these beautiful wheels can now be on your favorite ride. A direct replacement to your current wire wheels - keeping true to the original design and look, right down to the "Dunlop Patent Applied For" stickers. Available in popular 15" and 16" sizes, round and square hole alike.
